SCREEN PRINTING WORKFLOW
At the end of the day, your designs are what make your business truly unique. And with our Screen Printing Workflow, you can have those ideas transferred into a professional design for screen printing in no time at all.
During the design phase, a printer's staff will create a digital file (that can easily be shared or edited) that contains all the necessary information for printing. This file is then sent to the customer for approval, who can make changes until they are satisfied with the design.
This process is used to separate a digital art file into individual colors for printing. It is done in an automated fashion, so there is no need for an artist to interfere with the process. The clear film used for burning screens actually has little to no color itself and can be manipulated into any shape or form.
This is the most common method of screen printing, and the screen itself can be very large since it's a flat surface. It's possible to print in this manner on a bed of sand, marble or water - anything that won't hold ink or isn't quite firm enough for pressing. The stencil will be burned into the stone with an exposure unit and a flame - every bit of information will be covered in ink so once it dries it's permanent.
Once the exposed screens are dry, it’s time to prep them for printing. First, tape over any mesh that would allow ink to come through. Only want the ink to pass through the stencil burned and not the registration marks or edges. Prevent this from happening by using a specialized tape that is made to stick to the mesh as well as the aluminum frames.
This procedure entails setting up each screen onto an individual head on the manual or automatic press. Then use the registration marks on the design to align each screen. Once aligned, add the appropriate ink to each screen and do a test print.
After approval by the manager, we will start the printing process in the presses. Each shirt is sent through a dryer where it reaches proper temperature, and a permanent bond to the cotton/polyester materials is created.
Once the garment exits the dryer, they are counted and packaged for delivery or pick-up.

T-SHIRT INKS & SPECIALITY EFFECTS
PLASTISOL
Plastisol screen printing is the industry standard. Plastisol is an oil-based ink which allows us to precisely colour match any Pantone colour and achieve vibrant prints. Plastisol sits above of the garment and has a thick, soft, and high-quality feel.
WATER-BASED
Water based screen printing is great if you want to achieve a colourful, soft feeling print. With water-based ink, we can colour match any colour. Water based ink soaks into the garment and can almost not be felt by hand.
DISCHARGE
Discharge screen printing is a unique printing process. Discharge ink is similar to bleach considering the fact that it removes pigments from the shirt to create an awesome, vintage print. Discharge has no hand feel at all.
HIGH DENSITY
High density screen printing is the coolest specialty print at the moment. High density printing is made to achieve 3D prints with sharp, detailed edges, up to 4 different layers. It’s great for clothing brands who really want to stand out.
SILICONE
Silicone screen printing is great when printing on soft, elastic garments. It has a super elastic, glossy and soft texture
PUFF
Similar to high density printing, puff screen printing has a 3D effect. The difference between the two is that puff has round edges as opposed to sharp edges. The round edges gives the shirt an embossed effect.
GLITTER
Glitter screen printing inks are made from large glitter particles. Glitter prints have a super glittering effect which can be seen from a distance. Glitter particles may start to fade away after many washes. (Minimum 100 pieces)
SHIMMER
Shimmer screen printing inks are made from small glitter particles. Shimmer prints have a subtle glittering effect which can be noticed from up close. Glitter particles may start to fade away after many washes
METALLIC
Metallic screen-printing inks have no glitter particles but still offer a unique shine of their own. Metallic ink is basically plastisol ink with a metal finish.
FOIL
Foil screen printing is awesome if you’re trying to add some extra bling to your shirts. Foil prints are made by screen printing and curing an adhesive layer onto a garment and then heat pressing a layer of foil on top.
REFLECTIVE
3M Reflective screen-printing shines super bright when exposed to light. Reflective prints are safety certified which makes them great for companies that require reflective apparel on the job. It’s also awesome for fashion brands. (Minimum 100 pieces)
GLOW IN THE DARK
Glow in the dark screen printing looks normal in the light but when the lights are turned off, the print glows.
